The Hunchback of Notre-PANTO

About the show

White Rock Players’ Club The Hunchback of Notre Panto

It’s that time of year again when the White Rock Players’ Club presents its annual Pantomime. Having produced PANTO’s for over 50 years, this year has a few fresh faces taking the helm. This year’s Panto is, “lovingly ripped-off”, from the Victor Hugo masterwork ~ The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, and based on the script by Panto master, Dave Baron.  The new creative team invites you to step in to a different take on this classic.

Under the direction of Alex Lowe and Ann-Marie Zak, with Music Director Marquis Byrd, and Choreographer Rachael Carlson, the Hunchback and the realm of pantomime collide in a glorious explosion of music and magic. This show is shaped with elements that will be very familiar to long-time White Rock Panto-goers, and will add a few new motifs rolled into the mix.

SUMMARY—Set in Paris in the roaring twenties; our show follows a cast of characters struggling to make a life in one of the most important courtyards in the city – La Cathedral de Notre Dame. Beggars, aristocrats, and poets all live under the watchful eyes of Cardinal Frollo, portrayed by Kelly Thompson. Kelly adds the right amount of evil, all the while keeping a watchful eye on Quasimodo – Ben Pilger. Ben leaps with both feet into the guise of the shy misguided bell ringer.

Samantha Silver transforms into the young poet Pierre Bonhomme. Samantha injects a sense of pride and wonderment into the role, as she attempts to woo and win the heart of the beautiful Esmeralda, played by Juliana Peralta. The Queen of the BeggarsLa Belle Chantefleure (Dame Bryce Mills), returns to the Panto stage as a lady with a secret!  Dramatic as always, he (or should we say SHE) will bring laughter to the Grinchiest Grinch.
